About Us:

The Mental Health Society (TMHS) is dedicated to fostering the emotional well-being of high school students by providing access to essential mental health care. Our 501(c)(3) organization operates with the mission of breaking down barriers to therapy for students in need, who may face financial constraints, lack insurance, or other obstacles. Through innovative fundraising initiatives and empowering campaign teams, TMHS strives to make mental health care accessible to all. The Mental Health Society presents Racing for Wellness, an innovative philanthropic leadership initiative designed for high school students. Each year, driven student advocates undertake a transformative 10-week program aimed at breaking down barriers to mental health care access, with the aspiration of achieving the prestigious title of The Mental Health Society’s Champion of the Year. Candidates for Mental Health Champions of the Year are high school students who are passionate about volunteerism, philanthropy, and community engagement, and have a strong interest in promoting mental health awareness and well-being. At the end of the campaign, team leaders will receive awards, letters of recommendation, and be honored at a gala.

How to Start:

Find a group of up to 15 friends and create a campaign team! Teams will have one or two team leaders to help direct and organize the team. Nothing is official till after the introduction meeting and team registrations can be terminated until then. Even if in the process of figuring out a team a team leader can fill out this form and adjust team members, name, and structure after sign-up deadline. The week in between sign-up deadline and the the program beginning there will be induvial team meetings to create a team ten week plan and offer any other further guidance.

Deadline:

Sign-ups end Friday, September 19th at 6pm. On Wednesday, September 24nd at 6pm all the teams will have a Zoom for introductions and more details about the campaign teams! SPRING 2024

This program allowed me to advocate for something deeply personal. After seeing a family member struggle with mental health, R4W gave me the tools and platform to make a difference. It was empowering to know I was helping break down barriers to care.
